Visa at Ginga
A Visa card is the most familiar way to fund an account and, in Europe, one of the least predictable. The deposit side is excellent: instant, from 20 €, with 3-D Secure handled inside your bank's app. The payout side is governed by scheme rules rather than by the casino, which means the money is returned to the card that paid rather than sent anywhere you choose, and it moves at the pace of the acquiring and issuing banks. This page covers both halves and the one situation that catches Portuguese cardholders out.

Depositing with a Visa card
Select Visa in the cashier, enter an amount from 20 €, and fill in the card number, expiry and CVV. Under European rules the payment then needs strong customer authentication, so your bank pushes a 3-D Secure prompt to its app or sends a code by SMS. Approve it and the balance updates immediately. Ginga charges nothing on the deposit, and because the account is in euros a Portuguese euro card moves the money at face value with no currency conversion. Debit and credit cards both work, although some credit card issuers price a gambling deposit as a cash advance and start charging interest from day one — a detail worth checking on your own statement rather than assuming.
Withdrawing back to your Visa card
The minimum withdrawal is 20 €. Ginga approves the request within 24 hours, and the payout is then normally processed as a return to the card that funded the balance rather than as a fresh payment. That is a scheme-level rule across the EU, not a casino preference, and it has two visible consequences: the money can only go to the original card, and it takes three to five business days to appear because it retraces the authorisation path through the acquirer and your issuer. The line on your statement may even be dated to the original deposit, which makes it easy to miss.
Cards are therefore the slowest payout route on the site. In our tests Skrill paid in one to two hours and Trustly in one to twenty-four hours, against three to five business days for a card. If you win with a card-funded balance and want the money quickly, the sequence in how to withdraw at Ginga explains when the operator will route a payout to a verified wallet or IBAN instead. Verification is the usual set — citizen card or passport, proof of address under three months old, and a photo of the card with the middle digits covered and only the last four visible.
When your bank declines the transaction
Several Portuguese issuing banks block gambling merchant category codes outright, and the decline arrives with no useful explanation. It is not a fault in the cashier, and retrying the same card a second and third time achieves nothing except a possible temporary card lock. Do this instead: call your bank and ask directly whether gambling MCC transactions are permitted on the card, since some issuers will lift the block on request; try a second card from a different bank; or move to a rail that never touches the card schemes at all. Trustly authorises inside your own bank's login screen, and MB WAY or a Multibanco reference, both covered in the bank transfer guide, sidestep the issue entirely.
Is Visa the right choice at Ginga?
Use it if you want the deposit to be effortless and familiar and you are not in a hurry to be paid. Avoid it if the card belongs to somebody else — third-party cards are refused and the deposit is reversed — or if fast payouts are the reason you are here. The whole rail comparison, side by side, is on the payments hub.
